L'Oréal Paris Hydra Energetic Face Wash

Hello lovelies!

Right, I want to take some time to rave about the Hydra Energetic face wash from L'Oréal. I know it's from the mens range but I honestly don't care. It is easily one of the best face care products I have ever used. I first used it a couple of months ago when I couldn't find my own face wash in the bathroom and borrowed by boyfriend's, he doesn't really use it that often himself. Well, I was blown away by it.

It claims to 'wake up skin' and 'cleanse without drying'. Well I have to agree it does just that. Massaging it into my skin I began to feel an extremely pleasant tingling sensation, the kind you get when you know you're getting a deep clean.

Washing it off, I surveyed the outcome. My skin looked fresh and glowing and it felt so smooth to the touch. I was a convert...
I thoroughly recommend you try it out too. I've found I prefer it to the usual products I would buy.

NOTD

This is just a little post with a Nail Of The Day.

I did this using GOSH Nail Lacquer in Powder & Barry M Nail Paint in Black.

The black was applied with a thin makeup brush instead of the applicator in the lid.

Brush Care

Hello again everybody.

So, this post is going to be about how to care for and clean your makeup brushes. You should aim to give them a thorough wash at least once a week to avoid bacteria building up in the bristles. Between washes, you should ensure that you use wet wipes to clear off any excess makeup. The reason for doing these things is to prolong the life of your brushes and to keep them hygienic. Bacteria builds up on dirty brushes and, as you're using them on your skin, can cause problems and outbreaks.

So, here's a quick guide to washing!

You need:

* Two bowls/dishes
*Warm water
*Brush Cleaner or pH balanced shampoo (baby shampoo is good)
*A clean, dry towel
*Clean hands!

Step One

Lay the towel down flat, fold it if necessary to absorb the water and protect whatever surface you are working on. Partly boil half a kettle of water and pour it into the two bowls/dishes. You need two as one is for washing the brushes in and the other is for rinsing the excess brush cleaner and shampoo out. I tend to use baby shampoo as it is more affordable and works just as well. You want something with very little additives as your skin is delicate and it's not hard to upset the balance of it.

Step Two

Squeeze a small amount of the shampoo onto your fingertips and run the brush through it. Massage the shampoo into the brush and squeeze along to force the makeup out. Rinse your hands in the first dish as you go to keep your hands as clean as possible.
When you think you've removed all the makeup dip the brush into the first dish and massage the excess shampoo out. Run the brush over the back of your hand to check if it needs another wash. When it leaves no trace of makeup, dip it into the other bowl and give the bristles a gentle squeeze.

Step Three

Pat the brush dry on the towel, do this gently as you don't want to disturb the natural shape of the bristles. Lay the brush down flat on the towel and leave to dry naturally.

Repeat this process for all your brushes, replacing the water as necessary.

The image below shows just how vital it is to clean your brushes. You may think they look clean but you wouldn't believe the amount of product that builds up. This picture was taken after cleaning my foundation and powder brushes!

YouTube Channel

So, I have a YouTube channel.
I have but one lonely video right now but I intend to start updating this as regularly as possible.

Hopefully I can get a decent camera for making live videos at some point too so I don't have to carry on making slideshow videos.

Boycott St. Valentines Day

Photobucket

For all those that think the only people who dislike Valentines Day are 'bitter singles', think again. I am an avid hater of the holiday regardless of whether I am in a relationship or not. Which is good for my boyfriend because he doesn't have to worry about getting dinner reservations on the most notoriously difficult night of the year. So, I have reasons why I am not a fan of the holiday of love and here they are.

-It is my belief that you should not need prompting to be romantic. To have such a day set aside in the calendar like this when you are expected to show your affection to your OH, and vice versa, actually makes it LESS romantic. Romance should be surprising and spur-of-the-moment. This holiday just makes everyone a sheep!

-It is yet another case of the consumer industry mish-mashing a bunch of myths and stories together to create a holiday to sell. Others include Easter & Halloween (except they have some basis in religious beliefs)

-THERE WAS NO SAINT VALENTINE! At least not in the sense that this holiday portrays. There was in fact several of them in Roman & Christian histories and all of them were religious martyrs. But not one of them was associated with love, until one Geoffery Chaucer came along. Some people claim there are earlier associations (but none as far back as when the Saints were alive), Chaucer is generally acknowledged as the beginning of the holiday.

-Apart from weddings, I believe love should be as private a thing as possible. After all, it's between two people so why should the rest of the world bear witness to it. Valentine's Day makes it seem like you have to prove something to the world about your relationship when the only opinion that matters is that of the people involved in said relationship.

So, there you have it. My reasons for being a Valentines Day Scrooge!
